É«»¢ÊÓƵ’s Centennial Homecoming celebration featured a flavorful highlight this year — the grand opening of Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria inside the newly renovated Scruggs University Center cafeteria. The Oct. 31 event drew students, alumni and community members, with Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe among the distinguished guests celebrating the milestone.

The event marked the official debut of Slim & Husky’s on Lincoln’s campus and the completion of a $1.75 million renovation project that has transformed the cafeteria into a modern, welcoming space for students.

Known for its artisan pizzas made from scratch with locally sourced ingredients, Slim & Husky’s adds both flavor and community spirit to the campus dining experience. Founded in Nashville, the fast-growing brand now operates in four states and is recognized for supporting local art, creating employment opportunities and uplifting historically underserved communities.

The newly renovated cafeteria now features upgraded finishes, bright LED lighting, new flooring and reimagined food service stations, along with redesigned entry and exit points to improve traffic flow. Students can also enjoy an expanded salad bar, deli island, and new dessert and beverage stations.

“We’re celebrating more than a renovation,” said Tobias Morgan, vice president for student affairs. “We’re celebrating É«»¢ÊÓƵ’s investment in spaces that foster community, connection and comfort. Every detail was designed with our students in mind.”

President John Moseley thanked Sodexo Magic, Lincoln’s food service partner, and the donors who helped make the project possible.

“I look forward to seeing our students enjoy every part of these improvements,” Moseley said. “Because this is about more than the food — it’s about creating a welcoming space where our students can recharge, nourish themselves, make friends and study.”

With Slim & Husky’s now serving up its signature handcrafted pizzas, É«»¢ÊÓƵ’s revamped cafeteria stands as both a celebration of tradition and a step forward — blending a century of history with a renewed commitment to student life and community engagement.
